FleischmanGarciaMaslowski (FG+M) Architecture wants to welcome you to the visionary world of the NEW African American Arts & Cultural Center (AAACC), nestled within the vibrant tapestry of West Tampa. This design project is a testament to Hillsborough County Commissioner Gwen Myers’ vision, aiming to enrich the community by embracing the African American culture’s rich heritage while fostering economic prosperity in the region. FG+M design presents an innovative architectural concept that artfully engages the public and nurtures a sense of cultural celebration. The FG+M design will encapsulate a harmonious blend of architectural excellence and community engagement. This 45,000-58,000 square feet structure, thoughtfully situated on a six-acre campus, will seamlessly house art galleries, art studios, a café, and a spacious event area. The gallery spaces will gracefully perch on stilts over a newly crafted pedestrian mall, embracing the uniqueness of the locale and inviting the public to interact with art and culture actively. Our design will foster inspired exchange within the creative community through education and public programs, transcending visual art, design, and craft boundaries. Residency programs and fellowships for curators, scholars, and artists will play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of art enthusiasts and creators. FG+M understands that AAACC extends its arms to the community. Our design will provide space for clubs, social activities, and creativity-promoting gatherings. Integrating a Head Start Center and Clinic addresses the holistic needs of the community, ensuring a nurturing environment for all. Through this visionary project, FG+M aspires to inspire unity, foster creativity, and preserve the rich cultural legacy for future generations.
