The Bryan Glazer Family Jewish Community Center is set to open this week.
The Tampa Jewish Community Centers & Federation will hold its ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 8. In an exclusive to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, readers are now invited to see inside (see photo gallery).
When the project opens, it marks the highly anticipated rebirth and total renovation of the Fort Homer W. Hesterly Armory. The facility has deep history in West Tampa, having hosted Elvis Presley to President John F. Kennedy.
The building has sat unused for decades, despite many redevelopment efforts. It is named for Bryan Glazer, co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who pledged $4 million to the project.
To see how the Armory looked before the JCC project began, see our slideshow from November 2014.
Construction costs for the project are $30 million, including the entire armory buildout and a preschool building that will come in phase two.
