The Hillsborough County Public Schools district is undertaking a project to rebuild and restore Just Elementary and Stewart Middle School, integrating them into a single, cohesive campus while maintaining their independent identities. This project aims to honor the legacies of Garland V. Stewart, a former principal of several African American schools, and Dr. Ernest E. Just, a pioneering biologist and founding member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Just Elementary will accommodate 500 student stations, and Stewart Middle School will have 800 student stations. The existing Stewart Middle School gymnasium will be restored as a central feature of the new campus. School administrators and community leaders will collaborate to design the new campus and develop the curriculum, ensuring it meets educational needs and community expectations. The two schools will share a campus, providing a seamless educational experience from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade while operating as independent institutions.
