FleischmanGarciaMaslowski (FG+M) Architecture designed Hillsborough County Fire Station No. 45, a single-story, two-bay, nine-bunk, 7,798 sq. ft. facility. Its .90-acre site is only 110 ft. wide and accessed from Oakfield Drive. It lies within the Brandon Main Street Development overlay district, which has detailed site development and building design regulations. These include the following elements:

  • The design of the building adheres to the regulations, ensuring a distinctive and prominent public entrance accessible from a public street

  • Less than 50% of the street-facing façade shall be blank

  • The building shall have a distinctive foundation or base element that extends from grade to the bottom of the windowsills

  • Maximum height to the roof ridge shall be 25 ft.

The north (street) elevation shows the use of brick and stucco on the front façade and the standing seam sheet metal roof. The brick provides the base element that extends from grade to the windowsills. The tower creates a prominent public entrance. The building design wind velocity is 149 mph per The Florida Building Code.
