The Tampa General Hospital Corporate Center underwent planning and renovation, with FleischmanGarciaMaslowski (FG+M) Architecture. Six independent Finance Departments, the entire information systems department, executive offices, and training facilities were integrated into the space. The project encompassed various stages, from building evaluation and programming to rezoning, space-planning, and code corrections, all managed by FG+M. Interior design, structural repairs, demolition, re-roofing, and construction activities were efficiently executed, ensuring timely occupancy.
The complex comprised a historic 1927 brick and terracotta building, a 1920s gas station, and subsequent 1940s and 1970s additions. FG+M undertook extensive documentation of existing conditions and meticulous repair and modernization efforts. New mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were integrated into the existing structure.
Renovation highlights included refurbishing interior brick walls, wood flooring, and exposed terracotta walls. Additionally, FG+M added two new stairways for code compliance — one internal and the other external at the main entrance. A new second floor was constructed within a two-story warehouse space, expanding the building to 54,000 sq. ft.
The exterior underwent comprehensive repair, restoration, and modernization, featuring new hurricane-resistant storefront windows, retro-design aluminum sunscreen canopies, and a large entrance canopy. Site enhancements included an exterior courtyard for employees, a linear landscape park along Kennedy Boulevard, new parking, landscaping, and an emergency generator/service court.
