The SSFCU's first branch facility is located on Fletcher Avenue in North Tampa. The 8,000 sq. ft., one-story brick and precast facility provides full-service banking functions, including six lanes of drive-through banking. A prominent two-story high, precast entry pediment gives this facility an important presence in its suburban neighborhood. The tall, welcoming main lobby and entry are enhanced with high clerestory windows that illuminate the contemporary granite and tile interiors. East and west wings provide a sense of openness, with glass front offices, open office cubicles, clerestory windows and views of large oak trees. The project earned an Award of Merit in 1995 from the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission.
The SSFCU continued their relationship with FleischmanGarciaMaslowski with the commission to design a new branch facility located on Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa. This 5,042 sq. ft., one-story split-faced masonry and cement plaster facility is nestled among many large oak trees. Utilizing a curved metal roof and enhanced with aluminum louver sunscreens, this contemporary structure complements an excellent site.
After the successful completion of two custom branch facilities, FleischmanGarciaMaslowski was then commissioned to design a prototype branch facility for the SSFCU. The one-story 4,000 sq. ft. design utilizes a split-faced masonry and cement plaster exterior, coupled with curved forms and metal sunscreens. The prototype was later constructed in Plant City, and then again in the Town 'n' Country area of Northwest Tampa.
