FG+M New Director of Operations!
A lifelong Floridian, Rich Emerson’s journey in architecture began at St. Petersburg College before transferring to the University of Florida, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. Between studies, he spent two years at Opus South, the A/E wing of a national developer, gaining firsthand experience in the business side of architecture and putting his Business Minor into practice. After completing his Master’s degree, Rich spent two years at a firm in Northeast Florida before returning to Tampa Bay—where the warmth of the Gulf waters won out over the reality of winters on the Atlantic.
Rich thrives on the intricacies of architecture, from detailing and process refinement to seamless coordination with engineering disciplines. He is passionate about minimalist design, striving to integrate complex interior engineering systems into sleek, refined spaces. Drawn to FG+M’s diverse and dynamic portfolio, he has embraced the firm’s collaborative culture since joining. Now, as Director of Operations, he enjoys working across all FG+M offices to align collective goals and strengthen the firm’s culture.
Outside work, Rich is an avid sports fan and competitor, frequently participating in local sprint-distance triathlons with aspirations of completing a Half-Ironman 70.3. His ideal work-life balance? A laptop on the beach, surrounded by the sound of crashing waves, though he admits sand, water, and electronics haven’t quite figured out how to coexist (yet).
